DADX Dance Acacdemy Classes
The training at DADX not only provides strong technical
training in many disciplines of dance it also provides students with a
great deal of self confidence, allowing them to go forward in life with
a positive attitude.
**Please NOTE**
Advancement through the class levels at DADX is at the sole discreation of the Artistic Director of the studio. These decisions are based on the dancers ability to successfully complete the technical requirements of that level and this is assessed (with the coordination of the teacher) through the dancer's progress and advancement in their classes and exam work. Parents of the studio are asked to please understand that ability and age are not necessarily connected as some dancers will advance more quickly than others. At DADX, we strive to challenge all of our dancers and our trained teachers are qualified to give your child the best program possible. In the end, we will always do what we feel is best for that particular student.
DADX Competitive Team - Our competitive team offers students the opportunity to perform and compete at various provinicially held competitions. Entry to the team is at the directors discretion and is based on students ability and advancement at their level whether they be junior, intermediate or senior dancers. Students on the competitive team generally train 3-4 days of the week and are expected to take 6-8 classes during that time in all areas of dance. As ballet training is fundamental to all dance it is therefore manatory to all competitive dancers. This will usually mean 2-3 ballet classes per week depending on the student's level of acheivement.
While the competitive team members are expected to be training at the highest level in the studio not joining the team does not preclude any student from achieving the same level of training. But, like any physical activity, improvement and advancement to higher levels will only come with commitment to training, both in and outside of the studio. This means lots of class time and lots of practice. Any student wishing to train at this level, but not compete, is more than welcome to do so.
At DADX Dance Academy,
we offer classes in the following disciplines:
Following both the BATD and Vaganova syllabus, DADX
offers ballet training that provides a solid foundation for all other
forms of dance. The ballet training offered by the studio will help students
become aware of the physical fundamentals involved in strong technical
training and prepare them to accept any challenge that comes to them in
dance.
In Creative Movement we introduce young children to
the beauty of rhythm, timing and direction. Using their imagination, along
with animals and musical instuments we teach them to use music and sound
to create simple movements that help them develop a strong foundation
for dance.
The jazz at DADX is a combination of modern and comtemporary
stylings. Training in this discipline allows students to interpret music
and body movement freely, using both an emotional context and strong technical
training.
Our style of HipHop training is based in the personality
and attitude of the individual dancers and allows them to understand their
own creativity and ability to move with the music.
Following the syllabus of BATD and the teaching styles
of Gregory Hines and Ethel Bruneau, DADX teaches both rhythm and traditional
tap.
Lyrical uses modern technique and ballet technique but
also incorporates in a strong jazz foundation.
DADX teaches modern using the techniques of Martha Graham
and well as the Horton technique and Jerome Robbins basic foundation.
Acro is the combination of the basics of gymnastics
combined with solid jazz movement. Acro is the latest style that can improve
a good foundation for tumbling and balance as well as timing and rymthm
in jazz.
The concept of our muscial theatre class is allow students who are interested in muscial theatre to develop the dance movement and coordination necessary to perform on stage. These classes will give you an added edge when attending auditions.
